Preparing the article

The article should be written in a 12 point Arial font using space-and-a-half (1.5) line spacing throughout. Pages should be numbered consecutively and organized as follows:

1- The Title page (p. 1) should contain the article title, authors' names, and their most recent academic diploma, the name of the department and institution they work for, and the address for article correspondence (including e-mail address and telephone and fax numbers). The title of the paper should be brief; no longer than 120 characters in length, and should capture and communicate the key message of the research to a broader audience. Abbreviations, especially unfamiliar to a broad audience should be avoided. It’s possible to include some footnotes to the title, if necessary.

2- The Abstract ((p. 2) must be a single paragraph that summarizes the main findings of the paper. It can’t exceed 450 words. After the abstract, a list of up to five keywords that will be useful for indexing or searching should be included.

3- The Introduction should be as concise as possible, without subheadings. It might include the background related to the research, outlining the purpose of the article. Experiments always involve the testing of a specific hypothesis, which must be clearly written in the text, whereas studies do not.

4- Materials and methods should be sufficiently detailed to enable the experiments to be reproduced. The materials and equipment utilized during the experiment should be mentioned throughout the procedure as they were used.
If the article doesn’t need the Materials and methods section (e.g., Reviews), it should be replaced by the,Development section.

Ethics:

When human subjects are used, the article must be accompanied by a statement that the experiments were undertaken with the understanding and written consent of each subject, with the approval of the appropriate local ethics committee, and in compliance with national legislation and the Code of Ethical Principles for Medical Research Involving Human Subjects of the World Medical Association (Declaration of Helsinki).
When experimental animals are used, the materials and methods section must clearly indicate that adequate measures were taken to minimise pain or discomfort, and that the experiments were conducted in accordance with international standards on animal welfare as well as being compliant with local and national regulations. It includes the use of appropriate anesthetics and analgesics for surgery and approved methods of euthanasia, as specified in the United States by the National Institutes of Health Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (DHEW Publication 80-23, Revised 1985, Office of Science and Health Reports, DRR/ NIH, Bethesda, MD 20205) or by an equivalent agency in other countries. It’s also necessary have the approval of the appropriate local ethics committee
More information on Animal Ethics, please see ‘Article Submission and Evaluation’ section above.

5- Results and Discussion may be combined and may be organized into subheadings. In this section you will want to present your findings to the reader in the most clearly, consistent, orderly, and succinct way.

In Reviews you can write the discussion though the section Development or, if you prefer, it can be written in a separated Discussion section.

6- Acknowledgments are optional. They should be brief and should precede the references.

7- References should provide a context for the new results being presented.

In the text use the author-year system (the surname of the author and the year of publication are inserted at the appropriate point in the text), as described below:

1. Single author: The author's name (without initials, unless there is ambiguity) and the year of publication.
2. Two authors: Both authors' names and the year of publication.
3. Three or more authors: First author's name followed by et al. and the year of publication.

Examples:
"as demonstrated (Pereira, 2001; Matheus, 2004; Silva, 2008).
Pinto et al. (2008) have recently shown. . . ."

All and only the references cited in the text should appear in the References section.

References should be arranged first alphabetically and then further sorted chronologically if necessary. More than one reference from the same author(s) in the same year must be identified by letters "a", "b", "c", etc., placed after the year of publication.

Journal titles should not be abbreviated (e.g., Alternative and Complementary Therapies; Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine; Homeopathy).
